LEADERSHIP INVOLVEMENT
Through producing and hosting leadership empowerment or education conferences and programs, SLYO provides the youth community with exposure to high profile speakers and focused networking opportunities. SLYO also provides platforms for individuals to discuss and project their opinions on important issues in the community and in the world. It allows youth to develop their creativity and form new and long-lasting relationships. Leadership empowers SLYO youth with the opportunity to change the world and lead a better future for themselves and others.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
It's a core value of SLYO to give back to the communities they live in. Each chapter of SLYO offers various volunteer opportunities (food drives, beach clean-ups, tree-planting, helping to set-up shelters etc.) for their respective communities. Other specific examples of community involvement SLYO has organized include distributing food packages to the homeless, adopting and sponsoring families in need during the holidays, and going on community walks to break down barriers between individuals. Giving back to the community teaches us responsibility, compassion, and the importance of being a humanitarian.
YOUTH GLOBAL INTERACTION
At SLYO, we believe in creating opportunities for cross-cultural and global collaboration, communication, networking, and relationship building across all our chapters. SLYO has held career-focused conferences to connect individuals with similar professional or academic backgrounds. Additionally, SLYO has developed open forums such as “Voice it with SLYO” to allow individuals to discuss important issues they face in their communities. Having chapters across the country and across the globe gives our members an unique opportunity to network both professionally and personally. These
EDUCATION WITHOUT BOARDERS
SLYO is committed to enhancing the educational experience of youth and providing new resources for them to build knowledge. SLYO has held fundraisers to support the building of libraries and various educational resources such as computers, desks, and notebooks in Sri Lanka. Our projects focus on underprivileged children in underserved communities around the world. SLYO believes in providing the tools and resources for youth, so they are able to experience new opportunities and gain access to construct a better future for themselves and others.
